Testimonials

“US Conec uses the fibersect for all multi-fiber and single-fiber terminations and is very pleased with the consistent and repeatable results it provides. Phenix Fiber Optics’ customer service and technical support has always been outstanding – going above and beyond expectations.”

                -R&D Engineer, US Conec Ltd.

"Before we started using fibersect, we were processing by hand. By using fibersect, we were able to stabilize the condition of the ferrule end face, which improved the polishing yield by several percent. We have also been able to significantly reduce the polishing time for ferrules with two-dimensional arrays, such as 24-core (12-core 2-stage) and 36-core (12-core 3-stage) ferrules, which is a particularly significant advantage."

“We knew we had to move away from the hand cleaving method, which resulted in cracked fibers and extensive polishing. However, laser cleaver options felt overly complicated and overly expensive. After a side by side comparison we decided to go with the fibersect. Our production line staff are happy to use the fibersect - just put in the ferrule and push the button. Every cleave is practically identical so the polishing process is much more uniform, saving time and money.”

- Engineer Manager, Optical Cabling Systems

“The fibersect provides a more automated, repeatable process for cleaving. After demoing a fibersect we immediately liked it - it’s easy to work with and highly adjustable. We’ve had a significant reduction in cracked fibers since implementing the fibersect in our production. Based on cost analysis and maintenance requirements, we felt the fibersect was the most advantageous option.”

"Benefit #1

  • We eliminate the process of cleaving by the operator, with this we eliminate the risk that the operator hits the fibers when performing the cleaving.

Benefit #2

  • Savings in film consumption because when cleaving with the Phenix we eliminate the use of the first film of the polishing cycle, and automatically going to the second step, on the other hand, consistency in the programmed time since each every time we do the cleaving with the Phenix, the cut is always at the same distance, therefore we have fewer issues with the polishing due to the height of the fiber cut. Of course there are other ways to counteract the cut of the fiber and it depends on the model of the polishing machine that we are using.

Benefit #3

  • Although the yields obtained are very similar to those we already had by performing the manual cutting process, I must admit that if I improve our yield due to the following factors that I have to take into consideration every time I perform a manual polishing:

    • Programing time, there are times when only 50% of the ferrules that we place in the fixture are polished and we have to increase the polishing time with the first film because not all the ferrules are polished with the programmed time.

    • There is a greater risk in leaving the ferrule without a transition line and therefore sending it to scrap.

Currently we have a yield of 94-96% with manual cleaving, with the use of the Phenix we increase to 99%."
